Mortal Parent: Aria Porsha Britton
Personality: Addie is outgoing. She likes to make new friends, and isn't afraid to start a conversation. Addie is daring and bold, but, mostly, reckless, she rarely thinks about the consequences and always jumps right into things. Addie isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but she's not stupid. Addie is confident, the kind of person who struts when she walks, and thinks she's the best- so confident that it's annoying. Addie likes sports, her favorite being basketball, she was the captain of her team at school. She loves parties. You have to beware Addie's moods, however. When she feels something, she feels it hard. So when you hurt her or make her sad, you should expect a fist in your face. Addie dislikes boring books and board games. Her favorite actress is Jennifer Aniston, her favorite writer, Suzanne Collins (She actually likes Gregor The Overlander more than The Hunger Games), and her favorite singer is Taylor Swift. She loves all types of music. She's a gardener. She's flirty, too.
History: Addie's mother, Aria, was a science professor at Harvard who gardened in her free time. She lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts. About a year before Addie was born, she wrote a paper that became well-known, with the theory that plants actually had feelings and their growth of the plants depended on how well you treated them and that grapes had an "extra difficult" personality. Everyone else called her crazy, but, when she wrote it on her blog, she got something very important, even if she didn't know it- the attention of a god. Disguised as a charming party-loving florist named James, he stole Aria's heart. Soon after they met, Aria feel in love and they had Adelina, her first daughter (Aria had an ex-husband and had a three year old son named Leonard when Addie was born). She was heartbroken. James hadn't even showed up for Addie's birth, and she couldn't find him. About a week later, she got a call from James, talking about how they needed to move to New York. Furious, Aria took her children, moved far away from New York to a normal sized house in England, and got a job at the University Of Oxford.
Addie liked her mother, and they got along, most of the time. They were just so different. Addie's mother was all about planning, reading, being practical, and thinking ahead. When Aria asked Addie at breakfast what she wanted for dinner, Addie's head hurt. Addie's impulsiveness seemed to frustrate Aria, but they were united by their love of plants. Addie and her brother, James, got along. Though he was older and preferred to keep his nose in a comic book rather than throw a ball around, though they both loved the Superman comics, and Addie thought they were funny.
Addie had mixed feelings about school. She liked gym and make friends- it was just the, well, work part that bothered her. She was always an average student, never really interested except for History- she thought it was exciting and thought the people in History were sort of like Supermans- human, dead Supermans, but still really heroic, and she always got A's. The teachers said that Addie could not stop talking. Aria's years went in a happy, mindless blur. She joined the basketball team in the sixth grade, made her first best friend, Elaine, in the third, had her first kiss in the eight grade- normal stuff like that.
Adalina's Grandfather died about half a year ago. Aria packed her bags and they moved to Florida, where Addie's Grandmother Sarah lived. Addie was angry about the move, she would have to leave all of her friends and her basketball team, and, besides, Addie barely knew Sarah, but Aria made it clear she didn't have a choice. Addie made friends there, too, and became the captain of the basketball team and the only girl on it. She made friends with the team and she liked another team member, Cedar, the most. He was a handsome upperclassman who was kind and smart. Addie thought he was funny, too. She could swear when they first met he had sniffed her. They became best friends, though most of the kids in school thought Cedar had a crush on Addie- and, honestly, she wouldn’t have minded it if he did.
One day, Cedar was being beat up by a bully in the park. It was a mostly empty part, except for Addie and a distacted kid reading a book. Cedar had no chance of winning. Addie was furious and was about to step in. Something else happened before she did. A vine came from the ground and wrapped on the bully's foot, making him trip. Addie was shocked, she was sure she had done it. Cedar told her about Camp Half-Blood and how he was a satyr. She told her mother she was going to a special boarding school for sports. In a daze, Cedar took Addie to Camp Half-Blood. She was claimed two days after she came.
