Alka watched from the Hecate cabin porch as Eliza grew all the herbs they needed for the potion with ease. She had sorted the herbs nicely, which made Alka's job of collecting them much easier. Once she was finished, Eliza took a bow. Alka clapped her hands, which resulted in a disappointing noise thanks to the obstruction of her finger-less gloves.
With a raise of an eyebrow and a smirk at Eliza's nickname for her, Alka stepped forward, skipping down the cabin steps so that she could get to work.
"You did awesome," Alka commented as she knelt down on one knee near the bloomed dandelions, picking them carefully so none of their seeds prematurely escaped. Once she had filled a jar with the weeds, she moved on to the buckthorn bushes, carefully picking off the leaves from their branches and placing them in a separate jar. When she reached the bamboo, she suddenly realized she hadn't brought anything to cut it with.
Without thinking, Alka summoned her Hunting knives, which appeared in their usual spot in silver hilts wrapped around her waist. Alka unsheathed one of the sharpened, silver blades and firmly grasped the bamboo stalk, going to work with cutting a few pieces from it. Once she'd gotten all she needed, she sheathed her blades and willed them to once again disappear. That was definitely a perk of being a huntress. You didn't have to carry weapons around with you all of the time. They just appeared. Again, Alka realized she'd been less discreet about her being a huntress. She seemed to relax, though, as something in the back of her mind told her Eliza wouldn't mind so much.
Alka collected her newly stalked jars and smiled at Eliza.
"Alright, we can go back in now." Alka led the way back into the cabin, flicking the lights off as she entered. She placed her supplies in the middle of the cobblestone floor and went to work drawing the blinds to make the cabin darker. Once she had finished, it was time to set up the ceremony.
Before she began, Alka closed her dark eyes and took a moment to clear her mind. When she delt connected with her magic, the young witch pictured a circle being drawn on the floor with a star inside it. Alka then muttered a prayer to her mother in ancient Greek. When she opened her eyes, she found the image she had imagined glowing on the floor in a neon purple hue. It took up all of the free space on the floor, making a nicely sized magic circle for the potion to be concocted in. Pleased with herself, Alka went to work, placing a candle on one point of the star, a rock she had found on another, a jar filled with water on another and left the last one empty.
Alka looked at the candle and flicked her wrist. Under her command, the wick burst into flame as if it had made contact with a match. She drew her attention to the empty end of the star and twirled her finger in a little circular motion. Soon, a small tornado began to form. Alka then stepped into the circle with her small cauldron filled with supplies and her jars filled with her ingredients. She placed the cauldron in the middle of the star and sat down, motioning for Eliza to sit down across from her.
Alka closed her eyes once again, and muttered another prayer in ancient Greek, this time directed towards the elements, thanking them for their assistance in the potion creation.
"Alright," Alka said excitedly once Eliza had taken her seat. "Let's get started!"
Alka began to prepare the ingredients, mashing up the bamboo into dust, and the leaves into a paste. Alka looked in the direction of the jar of water she had placed on the point of the star they sat on, and with a delicate hand, willed the liquid to rise from it's cup, forming a ball of water that glided through the air and stopped once it was positioned over the cauldron. Alka spread her fingers slightly, and the water poured from it's orb like shape. She didn't use it all, just enough so she could return the rest back into the jar.
Alka then fished through her supplies, bringing out an owl feather quill, parchment paper and a small vial of ink. She handed Eliza the supplies carefully.
"Alright, I need you to write down your wish on this paper, and when you're done, give it to me.
With one hand, Alka began dropping ingredients into the cauldron, starting with the crushed up bamboo. With her other hand, she stirred the liquid inside with her index finger. She waited a short moment before dropping the leafy paste in, quickly accompanied by the seeds of the dandelions she had picked. After all of the ingredients had been poured, Alka turned to the book she had been referencing and began muttering the ancient Greek spell in instructed her to under her breath.
