Anyway, here's my character application. I take it that you'll tell me what needs editing or beefing up, so don't hold back with requirements!
Name: Julie Townsend
Age: 16
Gender: Female
S/O: Straight
Godly Parent: Eris (strife and discord)[/p][/font]
Mortal Parent: David Townsend
Physical Description: Flaming red hair that falls to the middle of her back, which is usually done up in a French braid. Her eyes are a piercing green with golden flecks strewn about the iris. Fair skin, nearly unblemished except for a smattering of freckles on her face. She stands about 5' 6", weighing in at 127lbs. She has an athletic build, but isn't noticeably buff like JOHN CENA or them.
Personality: Julie loves arguing, especially if she's the one who started it. Usually, it doesn't matter who wins as long as there's a heated conversation. Other than her love for fighting, she's an overall pleasant person to be around. Sure, she can be a bit hard to tolerate with her troublesome habits of starting fights wherever she goes, but if you happen to get on her good side, she's as loyal and trustworthy as anyone could ever be. But, just as everyone does, Julie has a bit of a bad side. Due to her history, she rarely ever trusts anyone with much more than her lunch, and there isn't anyone alive that she really trusts. She absolutely hates being alone with anyone for long, for fear of history repeating itself. Alongside that, she has major claustrophobia, due to sometimes sleeping in cramped alleyways or under cars and dumpsters. Her mind has blocked out most of the traumatic experiences, but every now and then she has flashbacks to her life with her father. Nightmares haunt her sleeping hours, while the flashbacks stalk her during the day. She does an exceptional job at hiding her PTSD and everything else, but sometimes it hits her WAY too hard, and, well, things go downhill from there. There has only been a few times that happened though, so it isn't a constant worry.
Back Story: To start, David and Eris - to put it shortly - never really spent time together. It was more of a "One Night Stand" sorta deal. They met at a club downtown, where Eris caught sight of David causing a bit of a fight with one if the other bar goers. Unable to resist but not wanting a long term commitment, the goddess flirted and toyed with David's emotions throughout the night, at first making him resent her, then turning him right back around to adore her. She accepted the invitation back to his Brooklyn apartment, and - to put it shortly - they did the nasty and in the morning, parted ways. When she found out she was pregnant, she didn't bother telling David. Why would she needle further than needed. Eris didn't care much for the girl she gave birth to, so she was dropped off at David's Brooklyn apartment, and the goddess never looked back.
At the young age nine years old, Julie found that she could no longer trust her family. Not only because of the verbal, physical, and sexual abuse, but because she learned that there wasn't such a thing as trust nowadays. People were just too unpredictable to trust with anything, much less a young girl's vulnerable heart.
So she ran away.
There was really nothing else she could do except that. Nowhere for her to go. No one for her to talk to. Just the endless traffic and shuffling people of Brooklyn.
And she lived like that for years. She didn't mind it at all; most of the streetrats were pleasant, and held exceptionally good conversation despite their circumstances. There was one boy, Keston, that she looked up to most. He was about sixteen compared to her nine years, and he taught her the ropes of street life. Where to find food, how to escape cops, the works.
But on her thirteenth birthday, the norm turned into a memory of better times. Things started appearing in the shadows, vanishing as quickly as they came. The monsters started hunting her, day and night, and only Keston was there for her. One day, he explained what these things were. They weren't just figments of her wild imagination - they were real, and they were coming for her.
So he sent her away. Gave her a bus ticket, and told her to never come back to Brooklyn. Ever.
At the time, it hurt her feelings. But she went. She rode the buss to the destination printed on the ticket; Long Island Sound, stop 333.
The next few Weeks passed in a turmoiled blur of impossible events. A centaur explaining she was descendant of the gods of Greek mythology, teenagers with supernatural powers. And then her claiming; a symbol of clashing sword appeared above her head at dinner in the Mess Hall. Eris, they called her mother.
Everything fell into a cycle; class, cabin cleaning, meals. And then the camp received word that Keston Connell, a demigod stationed in Brooklyn to retrieve stray children of the gods, had died in a monster ambush.
Her Keston.
And that's when Julie closed her heart and her mind to the world. Nothing else mattered. Nothing else cutoff convince her that everything was okay. She suffered depression, and until she hardened herself to all the cruelty of the reality, she cried herself to sleep every night, loss that she never knew would come.
And she set her heart on avenging her best friend.
