Eliza Harriet - My poor baby who never deserved this
Eliza looked down at her hands. She remembered the dark liquid running down them. She felt a tear drop down her face. She scrubbed them as hard as she could under the sink. She scrubbed and scrubbed, but it wouldn’t go away. Her hands were stained with blood, but the blood had been washed away hours ago. It was still there to her though. So she kept scrubbing. She hadn’t cried yet. She’d been holding it in. Gods, she didn’t mean to do what she did. No one else was around, she was in a life or death situation. It was night time now and all she could think about was the day’s events.
She looked at her face in the mirror of the bathroom. Her hair had dried blood on it. Her face was covered in speckles of the substance of life. Her hands were rubbed and scrubbed to the point where she was rubbing them to a raw pink. She shakingly held a hand up to the mirror and touched the reflection of herself. It was her. She knew it was. But was it? The girl in the mirror killed something. Took someone’s entire life away. Inside she was trying to reclaim the innocence she had. Another tear slipped onto her cheek and that’s when it happened.
Eliza dropped to her knees and sobbed. She shuddered as the tears cascaded down her cheeks. She brought her hands to her face and she cried. She cried for herself, she cried for the life she took, she cried for the god Pan to forgive her. She cried for the family of the young nymph. The nymph who was under Charlie’s power. She cried for the dryad who watched her kill one of her own. But most of all, she cried for the small child’s innocence that was once inside of her, and now was lost.
To When It Happened
Eliza smiled as she continued to hug the tree she was standing near. She could understand the plants and she could feel them coming back to life, so she planned on hugging each tree as they came from their deep slumber. She had hugged around 200 so far. She hummed as she brushed the bark as she moved away from that particular tree. She walked further into the forest, deciding to take a break. It was around 11 in the morning now, and she’d been up since 8.
Sitting on the soil, she made small flowers grow as well as some grass. So they could fully flourish. She brushed one of them and it blossomed a bit more. She smiled. It always made her happy seeing that happen. That they truly enjoyed it when she was around.
She turned her head as she heard a sound. It was weird, she could’ve sworn someone was there. Suddenly she was pushed to the ground. She tried screaming, but whatever was on her prevented her from doing so. She flailed and squirmed, she didn’t know what was happening and she was scared. She thought she would’ve been safe in the woods. She felt something on her neck and it began to hurt and she felt a trail of something warm trickle down her neck and she knew what it was.
Eliza reacted as quickly as she could. She called upon vines to push the thing off her back. There was a thump and she quickly got up and turned around. It was a nymph. She saw the knife in the forest spirits hand and she knew that the nymph was under hypnosis. She let the vines retract. She wouldn’t attack. The nymph charged at her and she side stepped one of them and ducked from the other one. She frowned as the nymph didn’t give up. She didn’t want to hurt her. However, as the nymph charged at her once more, she unsheathed her daggers in order to block the attack.
“Please, if you’re in there, you have to stop! I don’t want to hurt y-” Eliza had to stop mid sentence in order to block another attack. She continued to block the attacks until the nymph got tired and let her guard down. Eliza remained still. She would NOT attack. The nymph was innocent and had no reason to be harmed. Apparently she took that as an advantage as she charged at Eliza and pinned her to a tree, a knife at her throat and another hand covering her mouth.
She knew what she had to do if she didn’t wish to face her uncle’s realm. And by the gods she didn’t want to. But as the nymph rose her hand in order to punctuate Eliza’s throat, she acted. She took her dagger and she whispered a small prayer for the nymph as she plunged the knife into the spirits neck. She continued to say the prayer as the nymph fell forward, putting all of it’s weight onto Eliza. She breathed heavily as she slowly pulled the dagger out and threw it away from her. The blood began to gush out and it covered her hands and lower arms. She put one arm under the nymphs legs and another under her back and hefted her up in order to lay her down on the ground.
“May you have a safe journey towards your next life as your next reincarnation. May Pan help guide your soul to whatever you were meant to become. May you live without pain in the next life and may you be free as the wind as your spirit is transferred.” Eliza mumbled out as she shut the spirit's eyes. There was another noise and her eyes locked with the horrified ones of another person. She herself had eyes of horror, as she came to the realization of what she’d done.
