The words the dryad spoke fueled Eliza just as much as the notes from the pipes that were aiding her vines. They were connected. This was not only the dryads realm, but Eliza's as well. They would work together to protect the place they both cared immensely for. She couldn’t quite speak with the trees, but she could still understand them in ways so many could not. Life surrounded her instead of death now. The fog that had clouded her eyes as soon as she killed the nature spirit wasn’t gone per say, but cleared for the moment. She urged her vines to continue growing as she attacked Tyler. They wrapped around his legs and she felt them tighten. But he slashed through them, causing Eliza to flinch slightly. She focused hard on the music from the dryads pipes and the ends of the vines quickly regrew.
They wrapped around Tyler’s arms now. She continued listening to the melody of the pipes, knowing her vines gained strength with each note. She controlled the vines like an extension of her arm and began to try to pull him down. But once more, Tyler slashed her vines and once more, Eliza flinched. Once more, she focused hard and degree the ends of the vines. As she was about to control more vines to attack Tyler, he took off his eyepatch. She was surprised by that move as she watched the now open eye show itself. The red eye shone like a gem, and it was frightening. But Eliza had fought with Tyler before and she knew he couldn't keep it out long. So she continued her assault.
She shot vines out again and she noticed how quickly Tyler seemed to move now. She only slightly knew how his magic eye worked. It was like the Flash kind of. He could move faster and see things slower. He ran straight for her and she couldn’t keep up with his movements. It was like trying to watch an action movie and not knowing where you should put your eyes on. She quickly began to move her vines to attack him, but he dug his blade into the ground and in an almost vault, he came at her with one of his feet first.
Eliza tried to block the attack a bit by growing a few vines in front of her, but Tyler moved quickly. She was knocked back as soon as his foot came in contact with her chest. She fell to the ground and she lost control over her vines, they quickly retreated underground. Groaning as she struggled to get back up, she looked at Tyler. He landed, but she focused on his face. His eye was bleeding. He was overexerting himself. She knew exhaustion would win soon, but he was still fighting and so was she. So she pushed herself off the ground and looked back at the dryad. She would still protect her and the dryad’s notes could still fuel her plant attacks. Taking in that knowledge, Eliza once again attacked Tyler.
She did not shoot vines first this time, instead she grew poison ivy and quickly began working to try and have it wrap around Tyler’s legs. She would need to be fast if she wished to actually win. The poison ivy could be as a distraction before she could shoot her vines out at Tyler and hopefully restrain him. She would never kill him. She’d never kill again, but she would put an end to this fight one way or another.
Eliza is mainly not a violent person. She believes there is good in every person she has ever come across, even if they can't see it. When she walks, she treads lightly as to try and not harm the grass and tiny bugs residing under her feet. In her free time she makes flower crowns and tries to get smiles out of even the grumpiest of campers with stupid jokes and growing flowers next to their feet. She sings in the forest and has a mouse friend she talks to even if it can't understand her words. She even owns a secret garden that she had been planning on expanding.
Which is why as she is about to send four vines to restrain Tyler, she falters.
She looks at his eyes, one bleeding and one not. Both have bags under them, and both filled with rage and focus, but also hurt and exhaustion. But as she stares, she sees Tyler. The guy who helped set up a Mother's Day party with her and the guy who spared for fun with her. A guy she used to consider a friend. She looks at him, and sees an exhausted boy who is fighting with all he has left right now.
Eliza is mainly not a violent person and this is why she lowers the poison ivy back into the ground. Her driving emotion gone, the grass beneath her begins to die once more and the fog glazes over her eyes again. She gazes upon Tyler and frowns.
“Tyler this isn't you, I know it's not. We were friends, and you can be a good guy. The things you've said and done can't be erased, just like the things I've done today can't be erased either,” Eliza pauses as she glances back at the dryad for a moment, “You're hurting yourself and that hurts me. You're attacking an innocent life and that hurts me even more. We can put an end to this. We can take you back to your cabin and you can sleep. You're not thinking clearly which is causing you to make rash decisions. I don't want to fight you anymore. I don't want to fight anyone again, but I will defend the dryad if you choose not to listen to me. Please just think about your wellbeing and let me bring you back to camp.”
Eliza spoke with care and pain laced in her voice. She was hurting physically, mentally and emotionally. She knew Tyler was exhausted and she hoped her would listen to her. Brushing her matted hair behind her shoulders, she processed what she said to Tyler. She pulled that whole thing out of her own exhaustion somehow, but maybe it would be convincing enough. She was done fighting and hopefully so was Tyler.
