Training with Sarah (Closed)

Sarah walked into the arena feeling very nervous. Sure she needed to learn how to fight, but that didn't mean she wanted to. Still, she felt very useless in that fight with the serpent and with that thought she was able to push herself to come down here and learn to fight. Her attention snapped back to the training when John spoke.  "I guess,"  She said, uncertainty in her voice as she  held up her dagger in what was an obviously bad fighting stance.

Sarah nodded her understanding as he pointed what she was doing wrong.  "Wow there's a lot,"  she thought a little grudgingly.  She hadn't realize that she was this bad at fighting, but most people don't until they are told.  "Alright then,"  She said when John was done going over her technique.  When he told her to attack him her eyes widened in surprise.  "Like actually try to hit him,"  She thought a little worried. She didn't want John to think that she was a useless case though so, a little halfheartedly, she thrusted the dagger at John's midsection with only half her force; not wanting to hurt him.

Sarah bit the bottom of her lip with determination.  "Fine then,"  She declared taking a step back and ripping her arm back from John.  The only amount of fighting Sarah had seen was from movies or from watching her brother train.  However, her father always kept her out of fights and relatively innocent to the world.  She was basically the complete opposite of her brother.  Still she picked up a couple of moves from those movies and swung the dagger in low arc this time aiming for his side.

Sarah was completely expecting.. to be hit by the thrown knife. Not seeing it as a fake she jumped back feeling proud that she managed to dodge the knife. With a grin she looked up and began to boast, "Ha! You mis-"  but then realized her mistake.  Her eyes widened as she saw John charging and she only had enough time to start to bring her dagger up in a feeble attempt to parry his attack.  

Sarah got up slowly. She was starting to realize how much of a spoiled child she was. Her father had protected her so much that she had never been knocked down before. Now on her feet she realized what John had said.  "I got 15 seconds.. more like 7 now, let me think,"  She thought quickly analyzing John.  She may be a bit blonde at times but she was smart when she needed to be.  "He is definitely bigger than me and he knows how to fight, but his weakness...,"  She thought hastily.  Thinking back to their encounter with snake, Sarah remembered how his moves were fluent as if he was fighting to music.  "I got to watch his body language for that song,"  She decided readying herself for his next attack.  

Remembering what John had said about boasting Sarah didn't say anything, but she had a planned.  There was a little chance she would be able to successfully block his attack especially considering how much stronger he was than her.  Instead she planned to side step and strike him from behind.  Gripping the knife tightly, she watched as John approach.  She had figured out his style of fighting but she still wasn't completely used to defending against it.  Him slowing down through Sarah off enough that she was still able to dodge his charge  but when she went for her counterattack, he had sped up again (sorry if thats powerplaying) and her counter attack completely missed. "How does he do that,"  She thought completely mystified.

Sarah was surprised she was keeping up, and she found she was enjoying herself. Following the rhythm of John's movement she could definitely make out the beat of the song. What the song was she had no way of knowing but she started moving to the beat as well, almost dancing to it. Sarah danced a lot on her own up in Chicago and she found that dance can help keep her actions fluid in a fight.  "No wonder he fights like this,"  She thought enjoying herself.  Finally she saw her opportunity.  She didn't know why he lost his footing.  Maybe it was just her mother interfering; bringing her some luck. Either way she did not miss her chance.  Side stepping again, this time she aimed a shot for his side aiming around the kidney area.  But she could not bring herself to use the dagger's blade.  She didn't want to hurt John in any permanent way so instead she used the butt end of the dagger, hoping that if she hit she would not hurt him to badly.
