*lick* I woke up facing the tongue of one of my dogs, Madock. "Yuck, I already had a shower last evening Madock!" The dog excitedly wagged his tail. I think I'd actually miss him and our other dog, Rick, the most while in the United States.
"Mornin' sleepy head!" Mr. Heijmans already stood in the doorpost waiting for me to dress up. "This will be the last time that we're going for a walk in a very long time ago you know!"
"Yeah, yeah, I know... Is mom up already?" I asked as I grabbed the clothes I'd already selected to wear yesterday.
"Yep! The only one who isn't ready for our epic adventure of walking the dogs is you!" we both laughed and then I went to the bathroom to dress up.
Then I went downstairs to get greeted by mom and Rick, Mr. Heijmans and Madock were already eagerly waiting in the front yard. Even though Mr. H was crippled he truly loved nature and being surrounded by it, so we hiked at least an hour everyday.
"So, where are we going today?" I asked as I ate breakfast which existed out of yesterday's bami.
"Well, since it'll be the last time in at least two months and it's raining, I was thinking about going to the woods in Bloemendaal (village), you know? Caprera." mom responded.
I said it was a good idea as we let the dogs in the car. Because of the trees the rain didn't bother us and we didn't get wet, because of that. But in the end I looked as if I had swum; Rick thought it was a good idea to jump into a lake with an edge too high for him to climb on, so I had to drag him out.
The hike had taken longer than we had planned so I didn't have time to change into dry clothes.
I grabbed my backpack containing the essentials: my laptop, my 3DS, my PSP, my GBA and of course chargers, a stylus, a mouse, my headset and games; I had put the bigger devices and the rest of my stuff in my suitcase.
I was a little annoyed by my aunt, who drove us to Schiphol (airport). She kept nagging about how her colleagues didn't say hi to her sometimes and if that meant she had a permanent butt sitting on the back of her head without knowing or if they had all descended from the darkest parts of the world ever known to humanity just to exclude her from the say-hi-every time-you-see-each other-club. But luckily I had brought my backpack with me so I could play Fire Emblem: Awakening while she chatted with my mother and Mr. H.
Everything went smoothly, there were no traffic jams or other delays. We were perfectly too early in an acceptable non-awkward way.
I said farewell to my mother and followed Mr. H to our gate. I wasn't looking forward to sit in an airplane while watching the least worst movie you could pick...
Yet to my surprise the flight was amazing! They had power sockets and electronic devices were allowed! But the stranger next to me did not seem very fond of sitting next to a boy who smelled like wet dog for 9 hours...
We landed in New York, I was pretty hyped. It was my first time in the United States.
"Is there still time to go to Silicon valley and scrap summer camp?!" I eagerly asked Mr. H. I already didn't understand why I had to go all the way to the USA just to go to summer camp.
"Now boy, we already discussed this at home. This camp is very important for you. And I'm afraid there's no time to go to California. If you behave well we might go another year. Now, are you getting in the car or not?" He said as he held the door open for me.
A small chance was enough for me and I got in the car without complaining about not going to stuff I like.
"I didn't know you could drive."
"Actually I've been able to for a very long time, I just don't like cars that much. Exhaustion gases you know? Can't wait until I finally have been able to convince your mother to buy an electrical one."
"Which one? A Tesla model S" I heard about that one: it was the safest car ever build, required no gasoline, made no noise (due to lack of engine), could reach a high velocity in a matter of seconds, (I think) you could charge it freely anywhere and it used a Tesla motor.
"Uhhh.... Maybe?" he said with an uncertain expression on his face. "Anyway, it may take a while to get there, driving through the woods can be a little hard with this car."
During the ride I just played a few games while Mr. H murmured something about legs and camp.
A few hours later we arrived.
"Well, we're here!" he said with a happy face.
"Ehm... We're in the middle of the woods." I said as I looked around, all I could see were trees, grass and rocks.
"Yeah, we have to walk a few minutes until we're actually at the camp. Just straight that way." He said as he started walking.
"Why am I actually going all the way here just for a summer camp?"
"Well, you're a demigod. And I'm a goat, not a 100% though" he said as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
"Haha, very funny. Now what's the real reason?"
"No really!" he said as he took off his trousers and hat.
"Woah!", I shouted with wide eyes as I looked to his horns and goat legs, "that's some realistic cosplaying!"
"I'm telling you it's real! You're a demigod!"
"What? I'm sorry, but I'm too old for fairy tales." I said, his fur felt extremely real though...
"Alright I give up. You'll find out later then." as he turned and continued walking.
A few minutes later he suddenly stopped and sniffed the air.
"DAX! RU-" BAM Mr. H fell down and a dog had appeared behind him.
I recognised the dog, it was huge, had black fur and enormous teeth; I got attacked by one exactly like that a few years ago!
It came charging towards me and I put up my right arm in defense.
CLONK It had bitten my arm. However my right arm was artificial since the previous time I was attacked by such a hound, it was made from some kind of bronze, and I was unharmed. But the dog was as well.
Due to the impact the dog had slammed me unto the ground and it was standing on top of me. I wondered why it didn't charge another time, but then I saw it: his teeth had gotten stuck into my arm. The dog could move just as 'well' as I could, not at all.
"Err... Let it go... Please?" there was no way I could move with him standing on my chest.
"Hmm... Err... Help?" I looked around and saw that Mr. H was still unconscious but now I saw a group of buildings as well. It looked like a strawberry farm, could it be the summer camp we were supposed to go to?
I tried to get my arm out of his mouth, it didn't work but apparently I clicked a button: suddenly a long blade shot out of my arm and stabbed the dog. He didn't die but he did lose a lot of energy. I was safe but now he had fallen down on top of me. My arm/sword still being stuck inside his body. Now there was not a chance I could escape on my own.
"Help! This thing won't get off me!" I desperately yelled, hoping someone from the farm could hear me. It felt as if someone had parked their monster truck right on top of my body.
