I fell back onto the soft grass with a sigh. I just wanted to close my eyes, lay here forever, and forget about the whole thing. Even though my rage had subsided, I could still feel it stirring within me. And that just pissed me off, which couldn't be good. Roxy walked up to me and crouched down, looking at me with furrowed eyebrows as if she was dissecting me with her eyes. Then she flopped down beside me.
"Maybe taking a breather is what we need." Roxy mused.
"I like breathers, breathers are good." Fletch exhaled as he flopped next to Roxy.
Finn laid down next to me, her eyes mixed with emotion as she looked steadily at me.
"I'm sorry for being such a fuck up-" I began, but Finn climbed on top of me with a hug.
"We're all fuck ups, babe." She muttered into my chest.
I blinked in surprise, but held her all the same.
"We've all been through so much shit together," Finn looked up from my chest. "We're sticking with you no matter what. Unlike Charlie, we love our Lukey-pukey."
"Awww." Fletch said out loud as he grabbed my head and kissed me on the cheek. "Lukeyyyy."
In the midst of all this Luke-loving, I could feel Roxy's hands intertwine with mine, squeezing it reassuringly. I'm sure we looked like we were in a polygamous relationship right now to anyone else, but I felt really good. The fire within me died down, at least for now.
"Thanks, guys. I hope this doesn't happen again, but if it does... you have my permission to slap me across the face with a salmon." I told them.
All three of them looked at me with a weird expression.
"Um... inside joke with Leo."
Finn crawled off me and bounced back up, as if she hadn't recently jumped out of a train. Then again, she had weird parkour skills that I was envious of.
"Is it time to get a move on already?" I asked. "I was enjoying the love Luke moment."
"One can only have so much Luke for one day." Finn smirked.
"Alright, alright." I agreed as I helped Roxy up.
Fletch scrambled on the ground for a bit, but the three of us helped him.
"I'm really sorry, again." I muttered.
"No worries, man." he replied.
We followed the train tracks in the direction we had been initially going, discussing plans on what to do next.
"We're in Colorado now." I informed them.
"Dude, we have to walk through three more states. We need to find a better plan." Finn muttered.
"Unless another god shows up with a magical vehicle, I think we're gonna have to wait it out until we find a town or something." Roxy replied.
"Look at this place! It's gonna take forever!" Finn threw her arms up towards the endless nature ahead of us. A couple hundred feet ahead, a magnificent blue mountain sprouted from the forested terrain, and the train tracks went into the mountains via the man-made tunnel.
"DUDES! Aren't those the rocky mountains?" Fletch ran forward flailed his arms forward, ignoring the injury in his hip. "Let's check it out!"
We chased after Fletch as he ran all the way into the tunnel.
"The Rocky Mountains are supposed to be the new location of Mount Nysa!" Roxy called out as she lugged her heavy backpack along.
I could only guess that was a famous place in ancient Greece. The tunnel opened up, and my jaw almost dropped. It was beautiful. A large lake spread out through the whole area, I couldn't see where it started or ended. Naiads lined up along the edge, jumping in to giggle and splash each other. I saw a satyr napping on one of the many trees that grew around the lake. The mountains encircled the area as if protecting it from the spread of urban growth.
"Cowabunga!" I turned to see Fletch begin to take his shirt off.
"What are you doing?" I laughed as he ran towards the lake, the naiads took notice and jumped out of the way as he cannon-balled in.
"Oh my gods." Roxy giggled. "He left his socks and shoes on."
"Haha, what a loser." I commented as I took off said articles of clothing, my shirt coming off along with them. "GERONIMO!" I ran in after him.
