"So," I began, breaking the silence. "A ferry, eh?" I gulped.
I just had a close call with the sea, I didn't need another one.
"It's the only way, man." Finn said, putting a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Unless you want to fly us all the way. Which, after that last little incident... I think you should stay off your demigod powers for awhile."
"But all the things that can go wrong..." My stomach churned at the thought.
"What's wrong with Luke and water?" Dean asked.
"He's Zeus's kid, and Zeus and Poseidon, although brothers, don't like each other very much. It can be dangerous of Poseidon decides to get back at Zeus for anything."
"Like it would even matter to him." I mumbled.
We didn't have a chance to plan any further; Gladice kept on talking to us about her grandchildren and cats, while I was still occasionally getting the stink eye from Molly. Soon enough, small buildings scattered my surroundings and palm trees dotted the streets.
"My, how time flies so quickly when you have such nice people to talk to!" Gladice commented as a large white building came into view. Personally, I kind of wanted to just stay in the trunk and continue talking about cute things. With a scatter of 'thanks' everyone else piled out of the car. Finn and Fletch basically had to drag me out of the back. Before Molly could speed away as far and as fast as possible, Gladice held her arms out in front of her and took out a notepad, quickly scribbling something down and handing it to Fletch.
"Here, dearie. If you kids ever need anything you can call me on my landline."
Fletch smiled gratefully. "Thanks-"
With that Molly floored it until they became a small dot on the road. Fletch looked at the notepad paper and then at all of us, a goofy smile played on his face.
"Hey, guys!" He said, waving the piece of paper around. "I got her number!"
"That's... That's great, buddy," Finn said, clapping him on the back with her hand. He smiled proudly and pocketed the sheet of paper.
"Alright." I let out a deep breath. "Let's take a little detour first."
I stuffed my hand into my pockets to see that our money was still intact, and ran into the nearest souvenir shop, buying a pair of floaties and a lifejacket for a bargain of 15 bucks. I am the king of smart shopping. I put them on as soon as I bought them and ran out of the store, finding myself face to face with my friends. Roxy lifted an eyebrow and Dean facepalmed while Finn and Fletch snickered behind them.
"Hey! You two want a smackdown?" I asked, waving my fists in the air.
Finn laughed. "Okay, sorry, your majesty." She bowed sarcastically.
"Shall I get your noodle carriage ready, sire?" Fletch asked and they both burst out laughing again.
I could feel my face burn red. "Dudes, not cool." I said, putting them both in headlocks, although it wasn't very effective with floaties. "Let's just get this over with."
"Where-to, Aqua man?" Roxy asked quietly, a small smile playing on her lips.
"Not you too!" I let out a groan.
I looked to Dean for support but he was just trying really hard to keep his cool and not laugh.
"You guys are butts." I looked over to the large white building. It read Alcatraz Cruises. "Over there."
We headed over to the building where there was a window booth. A large man with a bald head and a 'not impressed' face imprinted into his furrowed eyebrows was manning the booth, flipping through pages of a boat magazine.
"Um, excuse me." I began.
The man looked up lazily from his magazine and his eyebrows furrowed deeper when he saw my get up to the point where I thought his eyes were gonna disappear in the bushy masses.
"5 tickets to the next ride to Alcatraz?" I asked, ignoring his expression.
He chuckled. "Oh, um, yes. Next ride'll be at 11. 30 bucks each per person."
"Thanks."
"Are you sure you can handle it, tough guy?"
"I can very well handle it thank you for asking." I said with a frown, counting the money. That would be 150 bucks altogether. I gave him the money and he handed me the tickets, hesitating first to say "You do know toddlers are free?"
"Thank wasn't very necessary." I muttered as I yanked the tickets from his hands and stomped back to the group, handing them a ticket.
I looked at the clock engraved on the side of the wall. 11:15. I had to wait 15 minutes without running away like a baby back to Molly and Gladice. Kay.
It wasn't barely a minute before I had to be restrained by Dean and Fletch as I tried to make a getaway.
"Dude! Get a hold of yourself!" Finn commented. "You're gonna make us feel bad for making you go on the cruise if something bad happens to you."
"Wow thanks for the moral support." I yelled out sarcastically.
"Dude, no matter what happens, we got you." Fletch said, a little more encouraging.
"You guys just threw me in the water a half hour ago!" I pointed out.
"Heh... yeah."
"I'm still really sorry about it." Roxy apologized. "I-I didn't know what to do. It was only the shallow water so I thought it was gonna be alright."
She looked so flustered, as if it had been eating her ever since she did it.
I put on a reassuring smile to her. "It was alright, I had prince charming here to back me up." I told her, pointing to Fletch, who was blushing hard.
"You know you enjoyed it!" He called out.
"-And it was for the better anyways." I added. "I was completely out of it back there. I needed the water to the face."
She nodded, although she still had a frown to her face, so I pulled her in for a hug. I felt like I was getting a lot of hugs lately. My cheek rested on her head as I felt her squeeze my sides. I kept quiet the rest of the time until the big hand hit 6.
"Alright." I let out a deep breath. "Let's go give Charlie a high five with my fist."
