Music For The Fields (Strikr123 [Closed])

I understood what he was saying perfectly. Being able to use your hands for something when you're bored is a great feeling. I was still slightly jealous about how he could actually build functioning things... At least, I was assuming he could.
"I get what you're saying," I finally said, after realizing Eli was looking at me expectantly for an answer. "It's like Apollo kids with music, or archery... Even medicine," I added, thinking of my sisters Roxy and Karley who worked more in the infirmary than the rest of us did. "It's nice to be able to be good at something, huh?" I pulled a grin on my face as I spoke. I guess building was exactly like music, archery and medicine for the Apollo kids. We all had that special gift with music, whether it be vocally or instrumentally, we could all do at least something. I was yet to meet an Apollo camper who didn't have a musical flare. Being good at playing music was definitely a perk. Our naturally good aim was another thing. Like Ares kids were basically good at everything that had to do with weaponry, Apollo kids had a knack for Archery, and from personal experience I knew our aim was a natural born gift from our father.
"So all of your inventions... They've all worked out?" I asked. I was curious as to how many inventions children of Hepheastus threw away each day because it was defective. I didn't know many of his children, only two so far personally other than Eli. One of them was named Sappho Collins and she was a mega weapons expert. She knew how to fix every weapon in camp, and probably even more. I couldn't even begin to imagine how she did it. The other, Was Simon... Well, I didn't know his last name. I didn't know him well, in fact. We had a mutual friend. He was one for machines, due to the usual grease stains you would see on him. Another question popped into my mind thinking about the different types of things Sappho and Simon liked to build and fix and use.
"And... What's your favourite thing to work with?" I asked.

I followed Eli's gaze to the sun that was starting to set over the tree's of Camp Half-Blood. Had I really been sitting in the dirt with some strawberries this long? Ah well, time flies, right?
"Hah, lucky." I said, referring to his statement about his inventions. "I've only ever been able to nail wood to the sleeve of my sweater... Anything else usually just ends up a disaster." I couldn't help but smirk in response to his answer about explosives. I couldn't even imagine Eli trying to shoot a bow with exploding arrows at his disposal. Something about that image made me feel like it wouldn't be the best thing for camp after all. Again I found myself thinking about how he and Dean would get along. Again, mental note not to let those two together in camp with explosives and fire at their fingertips.
The deep and hollow sound of the conch being blown drew me from my thoughts with a surprise. Around me, Campers stood at attention, stopping their conversations for a moment to listen. They then proceeded to walk to the dining pavilion in their friend groups. My stomach growled in anticipation of the upcoming food that would soon satisfy it's needs. I was thinking chicken Caesar wrap with some mashed potatoes and gravy.
I brought my attention back to the son of Hephaestus, who also looked in the direction the noise had come from.
"Wanna walk with me?" I asked. I stood up before he answered and brushed the dirt off of the butt of my pants. I then picked up my violin from the ground and swung it over my head to drape it across my chest and back. I held out my hand for Eli to take, which he did, and I helped him up. He was lighter than I expected him to be, which caused me to stumble at the easy amount of weight I had just braced myself for.
We followed the crowds of demigods I usually saw when I walked to the dining pavilion for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each step just made me more hungry as I thought about the promise of food.
It didn't take long before we reached the building where campers split off to eat with their cabins, talk about their days, and have some good old family time. I took a quick sweep of the place, seeing my sisters all sitting with plates filled with food. My friends sat at their tables with their siblings with content expressions.
I turned to Eli and held out my fist for a fist bump, which he returned when he noticed I was waiting for it.
"It's been cool talking to you," I said with a smile. "I'll see you at the camp fire, right? I'll make sure to swing some Linkin Park for you like we talked about!" With that, I parted to allow him to make his way to the Hephaestus table, while I made my way to the Apollo table.
I took my seat among my sisters, who all greeted me, and looked at my plate hungrily. Soon, a Chicken Caesar wrap, with potatoes drizzled in gravy appeared before me. I quickly dug into them.
