I felt Penelope place a hand on my shoulder, which caused me to look up and meet her green eyes with my gaze. I listened to her talk about living life with no regrets, which made a lot of sense to me. Especially with a life as a demigod, you didn't want to have things haunting your mind. You wanted everything off your chest, because you never knew when your automatically short life would end abruptly. I didn't want to think about how I would feel if Luke died tomorrow, like Penelope had mentioned before tapping her knuckles on wood. I couldn't imagine living in wonder of what might have happened if I'd told him. I also didn't want to face knowing what might happen if I told him, and it turning out to be the complete opposite of what I wanted. I couldn't help but let out a sigh as I thought about it, an internal battle going on in y head, chest and stomach.
I thought about how many times I had seen Luke nearly die. I had gone on a quest with he and two other of my friends, and had even saved his life a couple times in the process. I knew how risky the life of a demigod was. I knew the chances of us growing up into our older ages. The longest I was hoping for was 40. I decided now wasn't the time to decide how I wanted to handle this. That was for bedtime, when I'd keep myself up all hours of the night thinking about it like I sometimes did, and also thinking about other things I didn't even want to entertain the idea of right now.
Penelope offered grabbing some ice cream and watching some cheesy soap opera's together. Now that sounded like a plan. My favourite genre of movie was stereotypically musicals, but I did indulge myself in the guilty pleasure of watching cheesy soap operas. I used to watch them with my grandmother all the time, and I didn't admit it to everyone, but we'd both usually be in tears by the end of them.
I lifted the corners of my mouth into a smile and looked at Penelope gratefully.
"Thanks, that sounds great."
Almost immediately after I had replied, the dinging of metal on glass sounded around the dining pavilion and brought the campers attention to the front of the hall where Chiron stood purposefully. It was time for his daily announcements, where he would welcome new demigods to the camp, and mention those who had been claimed. Chiron took a moment to welcome Penelope to the Apollo cabin with a gentle smile, and then went on to congratulate another few demigods on their claiming. The centaur went on to mention the Capture The Flag game that would be going on that night, even though we already knew that was the case. As he ended his announcements he dismissed us from dinner. Demigods began getting up from their seats to make their way out of the dining hall and to their cabins to get changed and ready for the friday night game. I got up with the rest of my cabin and took my plate over to the fire.
I dished out the last half of my piece of corn, the uneaten of my two drumsticks and the leftover gravy that had drizzled on my plate.
"Apollo," I muttered. Maybe because I had given a super nice smelling meal, dad would give me a bit of help in the game tonight, not that I thought I'd need it, but sometimes it was nice.
I turned back to Penelope with a smile.
"Let's go get ready for the game. This is your first Capture the Flag, right? Don't worry, I'll fill you in on everything on the way to the cabin." I made my way for the door and headed in the direction the crowd was going in.
(ooc: I was thinking the CTF thread you were planning could be a continuation from this thread, considering we had mentioned CTF earlier in it.)
