Adelina Britton walked slowly down the beach barefooted, her prized red basketball tucked under her tanned arm. She wore her t-shirt with Fergie on it (That was her absolute favorite shirt. Ferg looked awesome in her sunglasses) and the words L.A. Love on it in bold black letters. She held her red Keds in her other hand by the multicolored shoelaces. Her brown, almost back hair was in a ponytail was pulled into a red beanie. She hummed distractedly- not in a sad way, but not exactly happy, she was just humming.
The daughter of Dionysus had done this every day since she had gotten to Camp Half-Blood, walking by the beach alone. It was calming, feeling the sand, the same color of Cedar's hair, the gentle lapping of the waves, the same color of Cedar's baby blue eyes, and the salty smell of the air. Addie's hair was beginning to smell like sea-salt. She was, yes, thinking about Cedar, and, also, over things. It made her feel a little weird inside, know she was half grape god and half human, but not much. It was leaving her family and basketball team with a really lame excuse. It was seriously lame, she was shocked that anyone believed it, especially her mother, who had worked at Oxford and Harvard. Addie hated leaving her team, she was captain, for god's sake.
With a sigh and a shake of her head, she put on her shoes and tied them. She started throwing the ball in the air as high as she could and catching them. She sung under her breath, "So you can keep me inside the pocket of your ripped jeans, holding me closer 'til our eyes meet. You won't ever-" She paused in horror as her hand twitched slightly and the basketball sailed, in a beautiful arch, over to someone else's head. She almost smiled. Almost. She even was a perfect thrower even when she was about to smash someone's head in. Addie's brownish-greenish eyes widened. She shrieked, "Watch out!"
