Full Name: Nikolas “Nick” Loran
Age: 17
Description or Playby: Nick is rather well built for his age. He has long, spiky, brown hair similar to a mohawk, but descending in length from the front to the back as well as being generally unkempt. He has sapphire blue eyes that seem to fluctuate in brightness depending on his mood, generally bright when he is eager, and the rare occasions where they dim in his nervousness or depression. He has fair colored skin, slightly tanned, and his features are relatively plain. He is 6 feet tall, and weighs roughly around 175 pounds. For reference to his hair-style, this picture works nicely (of course, don't consider the color or the rest of the character, I just found it difficult to word in how his hair looks): leohart09.deviantart.com/art/Ekko-League-of-Legends-532619156
Sexuality: Bisexual
Olympian Parent: Tyche
Mortal Parent: [Vincent Loran]
Personality: Nick is a cocky, determined kid with the thought that he can do anything and everything. He is what might be referred to as the “hero that tried too hard.” He enjoys basking in the grace of others when he’s of great assistance, but hates when others think they are just as good as him, if not better. He flirts quite a bit, and often tells tales of his heroic exploits to impress those he likes. While some might not find him very likable, when they look deep down they will see that Nick is actually really insecure, and shows off in hopes that he will be able to be popular. He particularly finds it to be a habit to butt into everything that he can hear or see. Nick always wants to be the center of attention, whether by gloating or by helping out in unnecessarily flashy ways. However, it is well known that Nick is often shortsighted in his attempts to "save the day," as it were, and often screws up in the end because he always gets cocky. This feeds partially into his fear of losing to evil that would cost the life of another, as he so promised to himself that he would never allow. Also, it is unknown to most whether or not Nick actually tries his hardest to fight when he does; most would assume so, but even he has some hidden potential. (Plot~(I could explain if you really want))
History: Vincent, Nick’s father, was an avid gambler. He always took his chances whenever he could, although he surprisingly never cheated once. It was fate that brought him into a chance encounter with Tyche, who was disguised as one of the others who was playing blackjack at the same table as he. It was a war of great minds, Tyche winning, and then Vincent earning his money back, and so on and so forth. After it was over, Tyche brought Vincent into a private room, and revealed herself for who she really was. Vincent could tell that Tyche was amazed, and she told him that she was amazed that any human could possess so much luck without her blessing. So much so, that they fell in love together. But, Vincent’s luck ran dry soon after Nikolas was born, as he was stuck with bills and debts left and right. Nikolas was able to go to school thanks to his father’s gambling(and not to mention he was somewhat of an intellectual prodigy), but their somewhat secure life didn’t last long. Nick often fought with his father whenever they talked, and so they kept to themselves most of the time; resulting in an awkward silence in their hotel room. This eventually spread to Nick's attitude when he was in school, as most people tended to evade him whenever possible; his intellect as a child and his uncanny luck just made everyone jealous. Even though Nick particularly disliked his father, staying in his part of the hotel room day in and day out, it was comforting to know that one had a father. However, it was only after a horrible incident that Nick learned this lesson. After trying to avoid the debts that he owed, Vincent was one day shot and left his son with little to nothing, mostly items of sentimental value and tears that flooded to the ground for days to come. Then on, steeling his resolve, Nikolas journeyed outwards from his home in Canterbury, England, and set out for one of the boating cities nearby. He snuck his way onto a boat headed for the U.S, determined to start a new life. It was there that Tyche visited him in a dream, and gave him a pair of magical dice. She told him that it was for his own protection that he should have them, and explained their use. She also told Nick that there was a particular place he should head for his safety, as a child of the gods was never really safe. Although the directions she gave were vague, it was just Nickolas’ luck that found him on the path to Camp Halfblood, where he carved out his new life. Realizing how useless he was to help save his father from death itself, Nikolas promised himself that he would spit in the face of danger, and save anyone in danger he came across. He promised himself that he would fight for good, and that nothing evil would ever come to harm anyone in camp.
Weapons: A Pair of Dice (Magical)
First Dice: Has symbols of a sword, bow, staff, a pair of daggers, and a scroll on it.
(there is also a non-harmful version of the first dice that includes: wings, boots, a lyre, a bandage, a stove, and a lockpick. He rarely carries this around, as they aren’t “helpful.” to him. The wings allow for flight, boots for speed, and the rest are there for miscellaneous needs.)
Second Dice: Has the numbers 1-6 on it.
When both dice are rolled, a weapon is generated from them temporarily, allowing him to cancel the effect. The first die determines the weapon type, whereas the number determines its effectiveness, 1 for worthless and 6 for powerful. (I will be actually rolling d6 for this...I’m going to prevent as many 1’s and 6’s as possible ._.) The scroll is a symbol for a magical book, in which its list of spells and amount of uses is determined by the roll.
1: party tricks, 1-3 uses.
2: (akin to lvl-0 spells from dnd,) basic small beams of various elements and dazzling lights to distract, 3-5 uses.
3: Ice spells, 3-4 uses.
4: Ice spells and Light spells, 5-6 uses.
5: Fire and Dark Spells 4-5 uses.
6: Fire, Ice, Dark, Light, Acid, and Arcane Spells, 7 uses.
Abilities: Similarly to sensing the mood, Nick can sense when someone’s luck is either good or bad (or inbetween), and he can sense when the odds aren’t in his favor.
Years at camp: 5 years
Year-rounder or summer-only camper?: Year-Rounder
