Full Name: Aaron "Verdure" Exurgo
Age: 17 (Birthday-September 11, 1997)
Description: With slightly long light chestnut-colored hair bordering dark blond, Aaron weighs about 170 pounds and is about 74 inches tall. His eyes are a dark forest green, and his skin is tanned from spending so much time outdoors. He has a more muscular build. Around his wrist is a brown leather bracelet, a present from his father. When it comes to his wardrobe, however, the demigod prefers more simple designs, choosing whites, blacks, browns, blues, and grays. Most of his shirts are button-ups, though in some a few buttons will be missing. On his right ear is a tiny earring, silver and circular. He also smells like jasmine and dark chocolate, because he secretly loves the sweet.
Sexuality: Demisexual
Olympian Parent: Demeter
Mortal Parent: Alec Exurgo (Father)
Amy Exurgo (Sister, deceased)
Personality: Unlike the stereotypical helpful, reassuring demeanor of a Demeter child, Aaron is actually quite blunt with his remarks, not very perceptive in the emotional plane. Having a knack for reading people-and the eidetic memory of his really helped-Aaron seems to know your thoughts at times, memorizing gestures and offhand remarks to create a plethora of information. He is quite reserved with strangers and acquaintances, stoic and passive at best. When he's gardening or baking, his outward personality changes to a warmer, friendlier side. The same thing happens when he's around family or anyone he considers as a friend-he becomes much more affectionate, though. He enjoys solitude, and can be cold or a bit rude if he doesn't have his privacy for a bit. He's also not very competitive, and his fury is actually quite calm, as he brings out insecurities and fears to bring against them. However, his rage may be hardtop come by, as he has a very long fuse. Aaron is also very intelligent, but he rarely shows it unless he needs to.
When people are too persistent in trying to help him or be friendly to him, believing him to just be "misunderstood", Aaron hates it, and the demigod often tells people off for it. His humor is sarcastic and cutting. The demigod doesn't judge people based on first impressions, and rather on their actions, relationships, and words. He also hates to be vulnerable and exposed, and therefore is very secretive about his past and about himself in general. He's loyal to those he cares about, but he will not hesitate to tell them off if they did something wrong. The demigod tends to be constantly alert, scanning for possible threats. If anything happens to those he cares about, he will not hesitate to take revenge. Since he's so honest, however, he is wary of making promises, not wanting to break them. His word is true, however, and so therefore you can count on him when he vows to do something.
The son of Demeter is an introvert, and tends to write things down in a journal instead of talking to someone about it. His works are not really entries about his day, but instead focusing on the emotion he's feeling, written as a fictional story or poem. He has a big vocabulary, but hesitates to use it, instead using words that are more to the point. He's actually quite philosophical.
Aaron isn't very empathetic, but is sympathetic often, though he may very rarely show it. His methods of comfort includes gentle pats on the back and just reassuring silence. He rarely says sorry for his actions, though at times he may regret them. The half-blood is also a neat freak, and likes everything to be organized. Not fond of nicknames, though he has been issued one himself, he prefers to refer to people by their given name and tends to be formal and rather stiff in introductions.
Baking and gardening are among his favorite hobbies, but painting and singing come close behind. He's good at all of them, but he may be sometimes distracted while making treats, so occasionally his dessert comes out burned or inedible. He loves coffee and tea, but at lunch he always drinks mineral water. However, he hates discrimination, bullying, and outright cruelty. He also dislikes spiders and generally food that isn't prepared correctly. He loves chocolate, as mentioned, and plays the guitar. A few other hobbies are dancing the salsa (the only dance he knows) and sewing, though he would never admit it.
History: In 1980, young, hopeful farmer Alec Exurgo moved to Minnesota to pursue his dream of opening a farm. For the first few months, he searched around, until he found land being sold by an old widower. She offered him 36 acres of farming land for a reasonable price, and he readily agreed. When he arrived at his new grounds though, he discovered that most of the land was over-farmed and was not as fertile as the old woman had said. However, he was determined to make this land as good as gold, so he kept it and conditioned the soil until he deemed it good enough to use. In 1981, he had his farm and good land, and was ready to make a living. City boy turned farmer, the man didn't anticipate the challenges he would face, and suffered from the harsh rains and weather with no preparation, losing a large percentage of his crop. After a year or two, he finally had a crop the way he dreamed it would turn out, and was rewarded with enough money to tide him over for a while. He met a beautiful woman, named Daphne, which was actually Demeter in disguise, admiring his farm.
Surprised and a bit pleased, Alec offered to show her around, and Demeter accepted. After chatting for a bit, the man felt a strong connection with the woman, and offered to meet up sometime. Amused, Demeter accepted, and they met again in a couple of weeks. Months passed, and soon Alec was surprised with the arrival of a baby with note that explained everything, including a warning about monsters and a note for Camp Half-Blood. Alec took the baby in, and raised it as to the best of his ability.
When Aaron was young, he always was made fun of for not having a mother like the other children at school. This turned into a fight-or-flight situation when he got older, so he chose fight. He got into brawls often, and he came home with minor injuries almost every other week, usually from older students. His father didn't know much about them, as Aaron hid his injuries by wearing long-sleeved shirts or anything that wouldn't let Alec see the remains of the fights. Aaron was strong for his age by helping out on the farm by plowing land for some more delicate plants, helping water the crop, and harvesting the food they farmed. Alec assumed that Aaron would tell him if anything was wrong, as they were very close. His father was the person who taught him to play the guitar. When he turned nine, his father adopted a girl, named Amy.
Aaron tried to always take care of the six-year old girl, often sticking up for her. She was the soft, motherly one, and she made him laugh, something he rarely did except with his family. When he turned eleven, however, things changed. He was cornered by a more persistent bully, a female. The demigod was walking home with his sister in tow when she ran after him, trying to provoke him. When he turned, ready to give her a piece of his mind, she lunged, turning out to be an empousa.
The monster had gone for his sister first, and injured her, while the boy stood, paralyzed in fear. After raking it's claws against his arm, she moved in for the kill, while the son of Demeter snapped out of his stupor and ran for home, supporting his sister to the best of his ability. When he relayed the news to his father, afraid and tired, Alec tried to call an ambulance, anything that could help Amy, but she was too injured and young, and died. Fearful and sorrowful, Alec boarded himself and Aaron on the next plane to New York, buying an apartment with the money left from his latest crop.
However, he left the farm in the hands of his friends, but often travels to Minnesota for a couple months, leaving Aaron alone.
He drove Aaron to camp as soon as he could, jumpy and unfocused, but there were no complications besides a speeding ticket. Aaron was claimed when he arrived.
Weapons: Aaron owns a collection of twenty knives, all Celestial Bronze. Besides that, he owns two curved Celestial Bronze swords, with Koroit Opal designs on both hilts. The sheaths are made out of solid silver, and pointed at the tip.
Abilities: Aaron is able to control plants and is a natural cook.
Years at camp: Six
Year-Rounder or Summer-Only Camper?: Summer-Only, but he visits during the year often, staying for when his father's not there.
