Full Name: Roxy Torres
Age: 16
Playby: Melissa Stasiuk
Sexuality: Homosexual
Olympian Parent: Apollo
Mortal Parent: Alma Padilla, Agustin Padilla (step father)
Personality: Roxy is a smart and reasonable thinker, and takes things seriously. She tends to be more mature than her friends, and good at sorting things out (except her backpack, that’s always messy). She is passionate in taking care of others (is an Apollo Medic) rather than being the one fighting. Sometimes she ends up becoming the ‘Mother Hen’ and becomes over protective and worried over her friends, at times lashing out at people for doing something stupid and dangerous when she really just cares for their wellbeing. Despite becoming easily anxious and worried, she is able to act extremely calm during dire situations to soothe and relax others. She usually speaks her mind but she also likes to play it safe; at times her low self-esteem and shyness will get the best of her. She is particularly uncomfortable when people ask about her own personal love life, and is in the closet about her own sexuality, that she’s kept a secret from almost everyone in her life, even her friends.
History: A background of Spanish and Cuban, Roxy’s mother moved to Florida when she was 23 in hope of living a better life than back in Cuba.
She was not allowed to use her Master’s Degree in the medical field that she received in Cuba in America so instead she made a living singing and teaching Latin Jazz classes. She ended meeting her future husband there, Agustin Padilla, during one of her classes and they ended up marrying and moving to Vermont when he received a job offer. Having to quit her job and with her husband constantly busy, Alma became restless. She began visiting a small bar which played live music, and one day a particular group came up and began playing Latin jazz. They weren't anything like she’d seen before, 9 women and one man in the middle, playing the cello. The woman had all sorts of instruments; one had a keyboard, another had conga drums, a drum kit, a trumpet, maracas, trombone, an alto sax, a guiro, and even a cow bell. This band had turned out to be the Muses and Apollo, who have happened to take a little musical break and get together in a quiet place in America. The entrancing music caused Alma to dance as if she was in her lessons, and the crowd began to follow her lead when they saw how much fun she was having. The passion from her began to interest Apollo, and he invited her to sing onstage. She agreed but when the show was over, both could not stay away from each other. One thing lead to another, and Alma became pregnant with Roxy. Apollo wanted to keep on visiting her, but she already felt guilty enough, and he couldn't promise to be with her permanently, so she had to cut it off.
Alma convinced her husband that he was the father and luckily for Roxy, she didn't inherent her father’s blond hair or blue eyes. Roxy lead a seemingly normal life, living as a shy kid that always tried her best to fit in. She began become more confident as the years went by but when puberty hit, everything seemed to go backwards. She felt insecure about her appearance and emotions, and tried hard not to open up to anyone, until Leo showed up. Leo is a satyr at camp, and had snuck into her first year of high school. He became Roxy’s best friend, and she felt like she finally had someone to talk to. After a near-death experience with empousai (Roxy wasn't much help despite being female, which Leo noticed) they escaped to camp.
Roxy became one of the well-known Apollo Medics, when she turned out to be not very coordinated in combat (even with a bow and arrow). For the first year she felt more in place knowing who she was and that everyone around her was going through the same thing she was, but she constantly fought with her mom, who wouldn’t believe her (being a halfblood) and wanted her to come back home. Even when she learned the truth, all she wanted was for her to come back home. It wasn't until halfway through that year that and they had a stymphalian birds incident at their house was when Alma realized that Roxy was in danger in the outside world. She brought Roxy back to camp, and had to tell Agustin the truth. He didn't like it, and his relationship with both of them became more distant. Roxy got back to becoming a year-round camper, and is on her fourth year.
