making a new friend(gin/luke)

I let my mouth hang open as words attempted to crawl out of my mouth. The problem was, I had no idea who to reply with. No one in particular came to mind although my old crush, Lily, crossed it a couple of times. Still I wasn't tempted to answer with any certain someone, so I switched tactics and wondered who is the safest person to say to Eli. Who did he expect me to say? That one was obvious, he's been talking about Fletch for the past few minutes. Why did he want to know so badly? I pondered if I should say Fletch just to please him. No, I couldnt. I don't want false rumors spreading to him, that would be bad. Even if it was only a 'life or death' situation.

I pursed my lips as all the other options crossed my mind. Honestly I'd date any of my friends if it came to life or death. I mean it would be super weird but like, relationships are pretty much like friendships but with more kissing, right? Leo was my best friend, we should might as well get married if we dated. Finn pretty much would willingly make out with everyone on a daily basis so that would be a lot less awkward. Still, I felt uncomfortable singling anyone out so I just went along with my original answer.

"I wouldn't mind dating any of them really. I mean, it would be awkward for a while but I think I could make it with most of my friends- at least in a life or death situation."

I looked down as I began to lightly kick the tip of my sword with my foot.
At least I was being honest.

I let out a light-hearted scoff. "Well I mean yeah, you're actually dating the guy. Perks of being single, everyone's on the market." I paused, realizing how strange and possibly creepy that sounded. "Uhm, that came out wrong."
I decided to lighten the mood by pulling on the kid's leg. I tapped him on the side of the foot with the flat end of my sword. "Why so interested in my love life, Eli? Are you sure Ashton shouldn't be worried?" I asked with a sly grin.
It was just a joke, I knew his intention behind his questions were to figure out what was between Fletch and I, but it didn't mean I couldn't have fun with it.

I grinned at Eli's sudden shyness, albeit a bit guilty for embarrassing him.
"Hey don't worry about it man, I was just yanking your chain."
I pressed the teal square on the hilt of my sword and in a glow of white light it morphed back into my wristband. I didn't think I did much to accomplish my goal to get back into shape, but at least I didn't feel unaccomplished or frustrated anymore, and I let myself retire from sword fighting for today. I slipped the armor off of me, fiddling over the worn out straps before finally placing it back on the rack. I let out a deep breath, realizing only now that the armor I had chose was a bit too tight for me. I really should get one customized for my build, but I never cared to make or ask for one from the Hephaestus cabin because I never got the chance to wear armor in real fighting situations.
"You should introduce me to Ashton sometime." I suggested. "We can hang out sometime."
