Full Name: Deborah Sanchez
Age: 16
Description or Playby:
Debby has never heard a single compliment from Samuel, her former Half-Blood Mentor from outside camp, about her appearance. All he gave her was, “Nice Move!”, “Clever Trick!”, “Now you’re getting better!”, but Debby was told that she was pretty by the few mortals she used to be friends with.
She’s quite tall for a 16-year-old Asian girl, 5’5”, weighing about 50kg. She has a long black hair that she used to pull behind with a single braid, years ago. But now, she preferred to let it fall on her back. Her dark coffee brown eyes looked black from afar, but with a closer look, it reveals its color.
She’s always been told that she has a different stare, like one look and she knows everything you’re thinking. Her eyes seem like it can pierce through one’s soul, and once it got in, there’s no running away.
She wore a black hoody with a black tank top inside, old worn-out jeans, and a black rubber shoes with white sole and stripe of pink on the top, which definitely looked out of place.
Sexuality: Female
Olympian Parent: Hades
Mortal Parent: Unknown
Personality:
Debby has always been the mysterious type. You see her, and you’re not really sure what she is, who she is. Samuel, her Half-blood mentor who raised her, was never actually sure who Debby’s godly parent is. She’s good at archery, not bad in medical stuff, she would’ve been an Apollo kid, but she’s awful in music.
She’s the best in analyzing, decoding, and formulizing, good at planning and organizing, great fear of spiders too, would’ve been an Athena kid, but she panics when she’s asked to make instant tactics and strategies during a battle, afraid to make mistakes.
Might even be an Ares kid. Weird as it seems, she loves brutal stuff. She won’t say a movie is great unless she see someone die. She enjoys war games and loves playing with dangerous weapons. She also seems like a Hecate kid ‘cause of her interest in street magic. Can be Hephaestus’ kid too, being so clever making stuff out of scraps. Possible to be a Hermes kid as well, she’s very sneaky stealing stuff from people.
But one look, Hades is the first one to come in mind. She just has a thing with black clothes and dark places. She hates being with too many people. It makes her feel like privacy doesn’t exist. But the odd thing is, she’s afraid of ghosts and dead people coming up from the ground.
But the point is, it’s really hard to make a guess, even Samuel gave up. She can do a lot of things, but she’s the master of nothing. The only trait that assured her of her blood, the only thing that made her believe she’s a demigod, that one thing about her Samuel never knew until the last seconds of his life, Deborah Sanchez, a daughter of Hades, can shadow travel.
History:
"You're a half-blood", these words that she's been hearing all her life, built up the world that Debby grew up to.
"You're half mortal, half god. If my senses are correct, you're Greek", Debby could remember Samuel explaining to her when she was very young. "We fight monsters. Those would be the ugly-looking ones.”
Samuel is the only family Debby has ever known. She’s been traveling with him ever since forever. Samuel told her that he found her as a baby lying in a little box in a dark alley, surrounded by monsters. Samuel saved her and started raising her as an apprentice. He taught her everything she needed to know: Basic Math, Basic Science, English, Greek Mythology, Sword Fighting, Archery, First Aid, Tactics, Survival Skills, etc.
Being in Asia, there weren’t that much monsters to practice with, at least not as strong as the ones in the west. As a toddler, with the help of her half-blood mentor, Debby made her first kill. A Cyclops lying face up, with a dagger in its eye, Debby can still remember the scene of it disintegrating, very raw at the back of her head.
When she was 8, Samuel decided that Debby can now practice with more difficult monsters. They left Debby’s home country, Philippines, and began traveling westward. Along the way, Debby made some mortal friends, but Samuel was against it. “Mortals have no idea about our world, so getting close with one is only going to make things a lot harder for us”, that’s what he told her.
“Never trust anyone. No friends, no allies. You can never be so sure about anyone, not mortals, not the gods, not half-bloods, not any other creature, not even me”, Samuel’s words pierced her, leaving so little of her heart. “One day, when the time comes, if ever I turn my weapon on you, you have to be strong and have the courage to fight back”
And so the worst had happened. Tonight, she found herself standing at Half-Blood Hill, no friends, no allies, no one to trust, no shoulder to cry on, no one to watch her back, no one to protect, no one but herself. But even with Samuel gone, her training has to continue. With her bow in hand, arrows strapped on her back, sword hanging on her left side, Deborah stood tall, confident, brave, alone… ready to face a new world.
