Not My Strong Suit (open!)

Kyra jumped at the sound of a voice, whirling around to face who it had come from. A girl stood there, a questioning yet knowing look on her face. An animatronic dog-looking thing was by her side, but it looked a bit preoccupied.

She didn't register what the girl had said until almost twenty seconds of silence later. "Oh, I'm fine." She stepped hastily away from where she'd been standing, as if she was caught in the act of doing something wrong. "Just, ah, thinking. I guess." This DEFINITELY wasn't like her. She could usually lie a lot more easily, but she'd never had to lie about almost using a weapon.

Man, this was not her day.

((Hey, sorry it took so long to respond. Teachers don't appreciate students being on their phones, apparently. Nice rhyme, by way ))

"Uh, I'm Kyra. Kyra Winchester, daughter of Ares." She responded, sounding uncertain. "I actually was think about archery. About, ah, how good I am with a bow." She'd never admit that she had really been thinking about how bad she was, ESPECIALLY to someone she just barely met. Besides, it wasn't like she actually was going to shoot anything.

"Since you know my name, I think it's only fair you told me yours." She said, regaining her composure and putting on a mischievous smirk.

"Nice to meet you Kyra" I said as she asked for my name. I looked at her slightly confused. "I already did that, but I'll tell you again. I'm Alpha, daughter of Aletheia, the goddess of truth. That" I said as I pointed at Beta who had spotted a piston approaching us, seemingly upset about something. "Is Beta, my pet wolf automaton, he's nice, mostly." If you're not the wires of Daxters gaming console.... Sorry Dax.

"Don't worry, oh any by the way fun fact about me. I can't lie so all I will tell you is the truth." People rarely believed me, which was weird seeing that we're children of Greek Gods, we get trained to fight with swords, they expect us to kill monsters and maybe even other demigods no way I'm doing that, some of us can fly or magically grow flowers or Gods know what, but a girl that can't lie is weird? Sure why not mate?

I could sense she wasn't speaking the truth, or at least partly but decided to let it be, Ares kids are usually the last to admit it when they're not being the best at things, especially fighting things.
Although Nike? Nah...

"You're a daughter of Ares, makes sense that you're good with weapons. But if you do need help, I'm right here."

The girl who was spotted by Beta made it to us. Either she was a Hypnos child who had just been brutally woken from her nap, or she was having a terrible day. "Sure you can join us, nice bow. I'm Alpha, daughter of Aletheia, the goddess of truth. My introduction takes to long it's annoying." I saw her looking at Beta like he was some sort of pest.

"...aaand that's Beta, my wolf automaton, he won't attack you without a good reason, don't worry and trust me, I know him well enough to warn you in advance okay." I said, hoping she'd treat my pup as being a pup and not something that needed to stay as far away from her as possible.

Ayaka's chocolate coloured eyes are taken away from Beta and to his owner as Alpha begins to speak. Her eyebrows raise ever so slightly as the girl launches straight into introductions. Talk about not wasting any time. she thinks to herself with a small snicker. Ayaka has always been one to forget about formalities such as introducing herself though, so she supposes she should be learning from Alpha. 

A brief smile flickers across Ayaka's face as Alpha compliments her bow, and she bows her head in a silent thanks. While she may have only been at camp for a few months, she wasted no time getting the Hephaestus kids to make her some weapons. Lucky for her, they love making weapons just as much as she loves using them. 

She nods as the other says her name, followed by her godly parent, as well as an explanation of what their parent is goddess of (thankfully, as Ayaka has never heard of an Alethia). Since joining camp half-blood Ayaka has found that saying not only your name, but also your godly parent is a normal introduction. Luckily for her it took only a week after arriving at camp for her father to claim her, so she quickly got to stop with the awkward task of saying she didn't know who her godly parent was.

Ayaka's gaze is drawn back to Beta as Alpha introduces him, and she puckers her lips. "I'm more worried about his smell than any attack." she replies curtly as the other is quick to reassure her that her wolf won't attack without good reason.

Before she could say any more that may offend the girl further, the other speaks up. Ayaka turns to look at Kyra, brightening ever so slightly as she tells her that she's a daughter of Ares. "Suppose you're one of my cabin-mates then!" she beams, taking her out-stretched hand and shaking it enthusiastically. "I'm Ayaka, daughter of Ares." she tells the two, giving Kyra a pointed look with the mention of their shared father. "Nice to meet you guys."

She dips her head then turns towards the targets, deciding to shoot a few arrows while talking. She pulls an arrow from the quiver that hangs from her waist, notching it into her bow and aiming towards the furthest target. Being a child of Ares, she's naturally good with weapons, though because she's only been at camp half-blood a few months, she hasn't had much battle training, so she's no master yet. She takes a deep breath in, then releases the arrow as she lets it out. The arrow flies through the air to hit the red part of the target. 

Ayaka relaxes with a small sigh and lowers her bow, frowning. "Not my best." she murmurs, mainly to herself. She blinks and turns back to Kyra and Alpha, admitedly having forgotten they were there. "You guys any good at archery?" she decides to ask, wondering if either of them would be up for a little "friendly competition". She always does better when she has a goal she wants to reach.

"Aww come on it'll be fun, I'm rusty too, I've been away for like a month. Also I've hardly ever beaten an Ares kid, just have some faith in yourself, you'll do fine." I said as I pulled an arrow from my quiver and placed it on my bow, pulled back, aimed and fired. The arrow missed the bullseye by a bit. I lowered my bow and smiled happily.
"Your turn Kyra."

A grin splits across Ayaka's face as Kyra tells her that she's alright at archery, though a bit rusty. "Ahh I'm sure you're being modest." she replies with an encouraging nod, picking up on her slight nervousness. Being a natural with weapons herself, Ayaka finds it hard to think that anyone -especially another child of Ares- could struggle with fighting. The odd thing though, is that her favourite form of fighting is one that includes no weapons, but rather hand-to-hand combat. She thinks the main reason she likes it so much is because she knows that her father gave her no real power with hand-to-hand combat, and so it's completely her talent.

Ayaka brightens as Alpha pipes up and agrees to take her on in an archery match. She watches silently as the girl props her arrow into her bow with ease, indicating that she is no new comer to the skill of archery. Her chocolate brown eyes follow the arrow as it flies through the air to hit the target, her lips pressing together as she sees how close it is to the bulls-eye. I can only hope for some luck to get my next arrow on the bulls-eye. she thinks nervously, having underestimated Alpha's abilities. 

Some may see this as just a friendly archery game, but Ayaka rarely does anything for fun. Everything's a competition to her, and losing is the end of the world. Yes, she is always a sore loser, and lets just say, if winning means cheating and lying, she's willing to do whatever it takes. 

Ayaka looks to Kyra expectantly for her to go, and she frowns as the girl only makes up excuses so she doesn't have to. She rolls her eyes and offers her bow forward. "Use mine then." she says, nodding encouragingly for her to take it. "Come on, you can't be that bad. Anyways, even if you are I'll be glad, since it means less competition." she says, a joking smirk showing on her face.
