Hamonicas and Exhaustion

Ayaka stumbles out of the Ares cabin, her long dark brown hair a mess and eyes wide. It was just past noon, and she had just woken up. Why didn't anyone wake me?! she thinks, pulling herself upright and looking around. She missed battle practise, arts and crafts (okay that's not a terrible thing to miss), and she can only hope she didn't miss lunch.

She jogs down the steps of the porch with a small sigh, looking around in hopes of determining where the rest of the Ares cabin was. As she pulls the sleeves of her hoodie up to her elbows she wonders why she had decided to wear such heavy clothing on a hot day. Of course, she also wears a pair of booty shorts, so it contrasts with her hoodie. Whatever, I don't have time to go back in and change. she decides.

She walks forward, her silver running shoes leaving imprints on the soft Earth. She's not completely sure where she's going, but she figures if she just wanders around long enough she'll find the Ares cabin. Before she can find her cabin-mates, though, she spots someone standing at the top of the hill. She frowns, looking up at the boy. He seems to be waiting for something, and because he has suitcases, she can safely assume he's just arriving, or leaving. Since it's not summer yet, she decides arriving is more likely, and so she turns to move up the hill towards him. She's only been at camp half-blood a few months, though she figures she can at least get him inside and explain things. 

As she approaches a small smirk dances across her face as the tune emitting from his harmonica reaches her ears. "Is that Miley Cirus?" she asks as she stops in front of him, a laugh in her voice. She places her hands on her hips and shifts her weight to her left side, her head tilting the same way. "I'm guessing you're new here?" she asks, raising her eyebrows.

Ayaka raises her eyebrows as Exley brings out a comb to run through his hair, and her chocolate brown eyes roll. Who combs their hair in the middle of a conversation? she thinks, stifling a snicker. Suddenly she's aware of how messy and disgruntled her own her must look, and she hastily runs her fingers through it. She quickly realizes there's no hope when her fingers get caught in a knot and she has to rip them free, pulling with them a good few stands of hair. Talk about first impressions. she thinks to herself, tucking her hair quickly behind her ears and swiping the hair off her hands so it can fall to the ground.

She looks quickly back to the boy, hoping he hadn't seen the battle she had with her hair, though figuring he did. She scowls as she notices the look he's giving her, and she attempts a warning look for him not to flirt with her, though apparently the message doesn't sink through. 

"Look you're new around here so I'll let that slide, but you better stop with that narcissistic thing you got going on, it's not gonna land you any friends." she replies flatly, crossing her arms over her chest and shifting her weight to the right. "At least wait until you know my name before trying to get in my pants." she adds with a small snort, rolling her eyes again. "By the way, it's Ayaka. Daughter of Ares." she tells him, looking him up and down as if trying to decide if it's worth asking him for his name. Apparently she decides it is. "Who are you?"

Ayaka can't help yet another roll of her eyes as Exley tells her that he makes friends everywhere. This boy's self-love was beginning to really get on her nerves. A sharp laugh leaves her when he says that she doesn't have to pretend that she's not interested in him. "Trust me, it's not an act." she replies dryly, pursing her light pink lips. 

Her nose wrinkles as the other suddenly moves beside her to wrap his arm around her shoulder, and she swiftly moves away from him. "Look, Excely," she begins, her voice turning into more of a growl. "I don't know how much you know about all of this, but Ares is the god of war, and I am his offspring. I will break your hand if you touch me without permission again." she tells him, her voice hard and eyes dead serious. "Now, if you got that, we can move on to getting you settled in here." she says, raising her eyebrows expectantly for him to confirm that he understands.

Ayaka relaxes slightly as Exley lays off of her, and she lets her arms drop to her sides. She supposes she may have overreacted, though at the same time if it means telling him the boundaries, she's fine if she hurt his feelings in the process. A small huff of laughter leaves her as he tells her that he just wishes his space was closer to hers. "Yeah well, don't they all." she replies lightly, giving him a small wink. 

She begins to lead the way down the hill and further into camp half-blood, expecting Exley to follow. A small smirk dances across her face as he asks where they'll be staying. "Well, do you know who your godly parent is?" she asks him, deciding to ignore his choice of words. "How much was explained to you?" she adds, looking at him with raised eyebrows. She wonders if he even knows what this place is, what he is. Suddenly she wonders how she would even begin to explain all of this, and this lulls her into silence as she waits for his reply.

Ayaka nods as Exley tells her that he knows everything, and that his godly parent is Apollo. No surprise there. she thinks with a small huff. She frowns slightly as the boy seems to trail off at the mention of his mother, though she decides not to mention it. Demigods tend not to have the happiest of lives, and Ayaka has learned not to bring the past up. 

A small laugh leaves her as Excley tells her that he likes to think he's pretty cool. "Yeah well, you keep thinking that." she replies, smirking. 

"So, I assume you have a saytr? Half-goat thing?" she asks, raising her eyebrows to him. "They usually explain everything." she adds, leading him towards the cabins.

"These are where all the campers sleep. That right there, is the Apollo cabin. You'll meet all your siblings there." she explains, pointing towards the bright gold Apollo cabin, though quickly looking away, since it's quite hard to look at. She turns towards in Big House and nods at it. "That's the big house, you should pop in there to meet the camp directors, Chiron and Mr.D." she tells him, before pointing to the mess hall. "That's the mess hall, where you can eat. Make sure you sit at the right table with the other Apollo kids." she explains. 

She looks back to him with a small nod, tilting her head to the side. "Got all that? I could show you around some more, or you could go into your cabin and get settled, and your siblings can show you around. Up to you." she says, shrugging her shoulders. "I know it's a lot to take in, but you sorta gotta hit the ground running, just like the rest of us when we first arrived."

Ayaka can't help a small snicker as Exley attempts to say saytr, only to give up. She remembers being the same when she first came to camp halfblood a few months ago, though now that she's been here awhile, all the lingo that had been strange when she first came, is natural. 

A smirk dances across her face as he chooses to continue with her "tour", and she rolls her eyes slightly. "Good choice, I've got top of the notch touring skills." she jokes lightly, before leading him away from the cabins and towards the archery range. 

"This is the archery range, pretty self explanatory what happens here." she says, continuing past it and to the climbing wall. "That's the climbing wall. I'd suggest waiting until you've trained a bit more before giving that a try. It can get pretty intense." she explains, a small laugh leaving her as she remembers her first attempt at it. Lets just say that didn't go so well. 

"Most days here at camp are spent with your siblings. You have a schedule, and you move from place to place with your cabin-mates." she tells him, turning to look at him. "You do get free time away from the schedule though, and it's all pretty laid-back. Saying that though, there's rules. My best piece of advice, though, is stay in your cabin after hours. Harpies get hungry at night." she warns, giving him a serious look. He seems like the type who would ignore this warning, and while she's not particularly fond of him, she'd rather not see him as the harpy's next meal.
