Kipp had always loved strawberries. He remembers when he was young -five or six- his mom and him would go out into this huge strawberry field down this old dirt road near his house where people could come and pick a basket full of strawberries for only a toonie. His mom and him would go down into the fields and spend nearly the whole day there picking strawberry after strawberry, filling a basket for each of them. Then they would go home and make some homemade jam, just the two of them. As they would work Kipp would steal a handful of strawberries to pop in his mouth, earning a playful look of anger from his mother. She wasn't really angry though, she never was.
Kipp lets out a long sigh from where he sits atop the fence that surrounds the strawberry fields. Even just the smell of the fields brought him back to his home in Canada. He missed it. He knows if his mom were here, she'd love camp half-blood's strawberry fields. With the saytrs working to help the fruit grow bright and healthy, it was ten times better than the one they had back home. She wasn't here though, and that's what made him wish he was sitting on a fence at his field, rather than this one.
Looking at the strawberries, smelling their fruity scent, Kipp's stomach suddenly rumbles. He grins to himself, wondering what it would be like to take just a handful of strawberries to pop in his mouth. He might get yelled at by one of the saytrs if caught, but there can't be a real punishment, can there?
He hadn't even contemplated it for more than a few moments before he's sliding off the fence and hurrying toward the nearest bunch of strawberries. He squats down and quickly picks off four large strawberries then hurries back to his seat on the fence.
Looking down at the strawberries in the boy's hand he grins, quickly lifting the first to his mouth. His first bite is a juicy one, a few droplets falling down his chin. He quickly eats the first one, then the second, the third, and the fourth is gone too soon. Once finished Kipp grins, his chin damp with strawberry juice.
He grips the end of his shirt sleeve then uses it to rub at the juice around his mouth, leaving a stain on his shirt, though he doesn't care. His mouth was still filled with the juicy taste of the strawberries, and he hadn't been seen! Little did he realize, his mouth was surrounded by the redness that the strawberries had caused, making it obvious to see what he had done.
