Description: With her fiery red hair and strikingly pale complexion, Kathleen doesn't look as formal and old-fashioned as her name implies. Usually wearing a sheen of lip gloss or lipstick, preferably in ballet pink or shocking crimson, the blue-eyed youth is at 5'5, a little petite, and weighs 112 pounds. Her fingers are rather long and slender, and her wavy hair falls just to her elbows, not usually straight. Though she's not exquisitely pretty, the girl creates a vision that makes you look twice.
As for her style, Kathleen prefers old-fashioned clothing with a modern twist, such as a cream colored button up blouse on top of a cocoa colored skirt that falls just up above her knees. Added to the rather traditional clothes are some starkly white pumps, and a white pea coat with a flared skirt. However, her style can change during certain occasions, like going to a concert in the mortal world. It automatically becomes more feminine and she leans toward darker, more elegant colors in dresses and shoes. Her signature style usually is just her black pairs of quilted Tory Burch shoes, though.
Her accessories include usually a bracelet and a necklace, but the demigoddess always wears a instrument case, or something that can hold an instrument. Whether it be a violin case or a brightly colored harmonica, she has a playable form of music on her being at all times possible. Her voice is usually cool and with an edge of iciness to it, and her eyes are rather closed off.
Sexuality: Biromantic, Demisexual
Olympian Parent: Apollo
Mortal Parent: Caroline Elanorine Aldaine [DECEASED]
Personality: In the mortal world, Kathleen was renowned for her cool, icy demeanor, perfectly polite but distant. Here, it's not any different. She tends to be polite and rather blunt, keeping people away from a distance unless she sees something in them that she's drawn to-for example, innocence, kindness, or even loneliness. Having a tendency to shy away from social situations, she rarely speaks unless spoken to-and it may be even harder to remember her presence at all. She's not timid at all, however, carrying a quiet aura of confidence around her.
When she has a goal, Kathleen will do whatever it takes to reach it, which is why she seldom makes promises and as such, it might be hard to get her into something, such as learning a new skill and encouraging her to get better. Her motivation is sparked by very few things, and her friends and family are among them. The demigoddess is loyal, but has a hard time getting to know people, because of her rather conversation-destroying traits. Mixing her short fuse, stubbornness, competitive nature, suspicion of overall almost everyone, and habit of bottling her feelings up and letting them go at even an offhand remark, she's not exactly a poster child for best conversationalist.
Yes, the daughter of Apollo has some bad traits-some more are her grudges, which she holds for a ungodly amount of time, and that she seldom can relate to others on a emotional level-but she also has a few good ones, which include her kindness, her ingenuity/intelligence, and her charm. But people also are intrigued-not just by her mysterious past-but by her music. Being a daughter of Apollo, she has an affinity for the arts, and in this case, she was gifted with musical genius.
Her habits include putting on a poker face most of the time, and fiddling with her hair. When she gets nervous or bored, she tends to bite her lower lip and tap her fingers in a smooth rhythm on a surface. Some other things about her that she doesn't exactly advertise are that she's really good at writing and with words-she doesn't like to use that skill, however, and she's terrible at archery. She also does not have dyslexia, but rather ADHD.
History: Caroline Elanorine Aldaine was a violinist in the small town of South Bend, Indiana, and her dream was to reach people through her playing. After month and month of being rejected because of her rather unorthodox style of playing traditional classical music (With a different tone, as if she played Moonlight Sonata with fury), she was finally taken in on a small competition, one of barely any notice, for her violin playing, she practiced hour after hour. When the day of the preliminaries rolled around, she was confident in her ability to play.
She presented a rendition of Love's Sorrow. However, her playing was greatly disliked by the judges, who were used to the more traditional method of playing exactly by the score-the way the composer intended it to be. After getting disqualified, she walked home, only to be confronted by a young youth who called himself Apollo. Caroline was flattered when he complimented her piece and offered to walk her home. After chatting a bit, they decided to meet up the next week, at a local concert hall to listen to Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
After two years, she was finally greeted by a girl, who she promptly named Kathleen. But confronted by a loss of her longtime boyfriend and significant other, she was at a loss for what to do and just did her best to raise her daughter in a warm, musical environment, where the two were always close to the other.
Kathleen was always teased for not having a father, but when she was old enough to hold a violin without falling over, she was also teased about wanting to stay inside and study her music lessons instead of playing outside. The girl was already a primary target, being at the top of her class-a cause for jealousy for many others. When she turned six, she started playing the piano, too. As she grew, she progressed more and more, and soon could play four instruments at the age of fifteen almost expertly-the violin, the piano, guitar, and the harp. Her hobby was trying to figure out how to play a harmonica, though.
When she was thirteen, she entered the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and won, having flown all the way to Salt Lake City from her hometown. As she grew older, her name became more prominent in the musical world, and she was considered a musical genius. When at sixteen she entered the Irving M. Klein International String Competition in San Francisco, she had finished her first piece and had been waiting for the results when she had heard a commotion in the next area. Intrigued, she walked over, only to see a horrific beast with one eye stare back at her, nearby her mother's body.
A hand had grabbed her, and she was pulled away, struggling and screaming, into a secluded part of the building. Confronted with a boy with crutches in a limp and him telling her that she was a demigod, whatever that meant, she slapped him and tried to run, underestimating his recovery rate-apparently demigods did that a lot. He told her everything again and waited patiently until it registered that this wasn't a bad dream, and the monster probably killed her mother because they smelled her demigod scent. And then they hitched a ride on a plane, using excess money from her other competitions.
She has arrived at camp.
