Full Name: Sunshine Dia Gesatare-Reel (Sun-shine - De-a - Guess-a-tear - Real)
Nicknames - Sunny D (like the drink ), Sunny, Sun
Age: 18 (Hunter Age - 18)
Description or Playby: Rosamund Pike
Sunny has shoulder length, light blond hair that she is either sporting in a ponytail, a bun or a braid. Her eyes keep a vibrant, light blue color that almost seem to light up when she is smiling. Sunny has a slight broad upper body, due to of been playing hockey since she was 6. She is also fairly muscular, however her facial structure is much softer than any other part of her. She stands at around 5’7 and weighs about 130 pounds. She has a fairly youthful appearance, as if she were younger than what she is. She seems to glow with said appearance. If you looked closely, you could see a face faintly speckled with small freckles. She has scars from either monster battles or from hockey accidents.
Her usual attire consists of simple neutral colored shirts and either shorts, jeans or sweatpants. Sunshine will wear her old jersey when she feels like it. She wears tennis shoes on a camp day and her boots when they are walking or hunting. Sunny will also be wearing her Vermont Catamounts sweatshirt when it’s cold. She enjoys wearing her braided bracelets and anklets all the time, most of them being friendship bracelets, each one being different.
Sexuality: Demiromantic, Asexual
Olympian Parent: Hebe - Hunter of Artemis
Mortal Parent: Fore Gesatare (In prison)
Adoptive Parents - Joanne and Wendy Reel
Personality: Sunny is pretty much exactly how you would think someone named Sunshine would be like. She’s almost always happy. She loves pretty much everything and she is a fairly charismatic person. She isn’t immature, but is more often to think and do things as a child would when it comes to certain things. If she’s overwhelmed by a problem, she’ll probably try pushing it aside for a bit and think about nicer things. Sunny loves to braid bracelets, play the guitar she got when she lived with one her foster parents, and play hockey when she can. She also enjoys to make up stories, as she sees herself as quite the storyteller when asked to share one. Most consist of fantasylands and fairy tales she’s made up. Her favourite part of story telling is adding her friends into them, in ways she sees fit for their personalities. But one thing she can’t stand is horror stories. Whenever one of the hunters begin to tell one, she either huddles close to another hunter or simply goes to her tent. Sunshine’s true dream had always been to be a comedian, however plans change. She did talent shows and would get the crowd to burst with laughter when she went up and told jokes or whatever else she had prepared. But like any person, she’s not even close to perfect.
She will often push people away if they try to get any closer to her than she seems fit. She’s had minor trust problems due to moving from family to family. She’s learning to allow those to become closer though. Another negative is that Sunny literally blocks out any seriously bad thing that happened to her because she doesn’t want to think about it. She basically makes herself forget the event even happened. She knows it’s almost greedy to be able to do such a thing while others must suffer with their pasts, but she can’t help it. It makes her life happier in her opinion and she doesn’t even mean to do it anymore.
The fatal flaw of hers would be that she is naive to quite a few things. It’s not that she’s stupid on the matter, it’s just a bit harder for her to wrap her mind around certain concepts. For instance, it took her a full year to understand exactly why naiads lived underwater
History: Fore was young when he met Hebe. He was living in the (very) small city Stanard of Vermont. He was handsome as well as charismatic, making him a fairly well known guy in a town with barely 180 people. He’d turned 27 that month and was currently running the kids hockey team. He had played in college, but ended up stopping after injuring his knee severely during a game. The kids loved him and he loved them just as much, as he had his ways with them. He treated them like they were his own. Hebe had watched him for a bit, intrigued by the way he simply connected with his team. She met him after a game and asked him on a date. He agreed and dated for several months before Hebe ended up getting pregnant.
Sunshine was born on March 4th, 1998. Fore was happy to have a kid of his own, and believing that Hebe would end up marrying him so they could be a family. But things didn’t go that way, as Hebe left a mere month after Sunny was born. Hebe had told Fore before she left of where to take Sunshine when she was older, but that simply made him angrier. She was going to leave and then have the nerve to tell him what he would do with his child? He was furious, but dared not to take it out on the proclaimed goddess. So he ended up taking it out on himself and a few times when Sunny was older.
Sunshine lived a fairly relaxed life when she was alone. She went to school and got Bs and Cs in her classes and afterschool she would practice on the hockey rink. She played as the left defense and was really good on the ice, especially at her young age. Her dad no longer coached the team, as he became rather reclusive after Hebe left him. He took blame to himself and turned to various ways of harming himself when Sunny wasn’t home. He would get high on any drug he could get his hands on, and would never drink anything but cherry-flavoured vodka. It didn’t matter that Fore did it when Sunny wasn’t home, she knew what he was doing. She could smell the alcohol and sometimes drug fumes coming from their basement. However, she would simply shake it off and prepare dinner for herself, like she had been doing since she was 7½.
The only times Fore ever took it out on Sunshine was when his dealer was out of whatever he needed to be on that week. He would scream at her and often push her around as he yelled. She would shut her eyes and try not to cry. She would never have to explain that some of her bruises weren’t from a hockey match.
Fore had been caught on an October night when he was buying from his dealer. It was bad, as they found enough drugs in his car and the house to sentence him to around 50 years in prison. Sunshine was only 9 when it happened, but she blocks that out of her life now. Sunny doesn’t remember a lot from that time in her life, as it was fairly chaotic. The only thing she remembers from her first foster family was that when she went downstairs, there were 3 plates of food at the table instead of one.
Sunny had to be moved from foster home to foster home until she was 11 and the Reel family adopted her. Wendy and Joanne were ecstatic to have a child they could now call their own, as neither of them wanted to become pregnant and enjoyed the idea of adopting more. They lived in a small house in Barre, Vermont. Sunny always thought they would simply send her along to another home because that’s what happened all the other times. But after a year in the home, she accepted that the two women truly wanted her. So she finally let herself be truly happy again. She did ask her mom’s (She only felt comfortable calling them that when she turned 12) if they would allow her to play hockey again when she was in seventh grade. Joanne was all for it, while Wendy was apprehensive. But after seeing Sunny play a mock game on the ice rink with the friends she made, they ended up saying yes.
Sunshine’s life for those years were wonderful. The only time her parents would let her make their meals (breakfast) were on Mother’s day, or if Sunny wished to bake a cake for fun. She never really thought about her dad, however when she did, her moms were there to hold her as she fell asleep.
When she hit 13 ½, monsters began to be able to trace her scent. She didn’t notice it at first, but as the months went on, the monsters would get closer to her and she ended up getting attacked right before a hockey game at the age 14. She had been in the locker room with her friend Georgia. The other girl had looked worried, Sunny assumed it was due to the fact they were about to have a match and stayed behind to cheer her up. Her other teammates had left, so that was when the monster struck. Georgia had pushed Sunny out of the way when the seemingly harmless assistant coach turned into a cyclops. Sunny watched has Georgia whipped out a set of pipes and as she played, a set of thorns attacked the beast. Sunny sat there stunned and didn’t see the monster ripped at the thorn bush and throw it at her. Now covered with small scrapes almost everywhere, Georgia summoned more thorns to wrap around the cyclops's feet and then it’s neck, making it turn to golden dust. She then grabbed Sunny’s hand and ran out the door, explaining very quickly what just happened and why.
They quickly made their way to the bleachers to get Joanne and Wendy. Georgia quickly talked them thru what just happened and why their daughter had a very new cuts across her body. The two wives didn’t believe the girls and told Sunshine not to lie. But as Sunny begged and pleaded she wasn’t, a young looking women turned around and joined into their conversation.
The women locked matching blue eyes with Sunshine and smiled. Georgia bowed as the women began to talk and Joanne and Wendy stared in confusion until the lady continued talking, explaining what was happening. It wasn’t until an hour and a 45 minutes later, after a very long conversation, and a move to outside the crowded stadium, they seemed to understand. This was their daughter’s mother. A goddess. Sunshine only remembers the next bit of what happened, Hebe had pulled her aside and chatted with her for a good 15 minutes before going back to the married couple and telling them to simply follow Georgia. The ladies agreed and thanked the goddess before ushering Sunny to the car.
Sunny packed stuff as instructed and then they were off to New York a few days later. They had discussed things with Georgia and Sunny decided to be a summer only for the time being. The day they left was a long one. It took hours of traffic and rest stops, but they made it, and the family said their goodbyes. Sunshine promised she would be fine until they picked her up at the end of summer, so with a final hug, her mom’s drove off and Sunny walked up the hill with only a bag and Georgia at her side.
Weapons:
- Sunny has a bow that she picked up from the armory on her first summer. It’s simple and durable, made out of oak and a sturdy string. She’d always been good on it, but her abilities with it have enhanced since she joined the hunters.
-She didn’t get daggers until she joined the hunters, and is still learning how to use them properly. They are the standard set of daggers for a hunter.
-Hebe left her a medium silver cup (like a goblet) on her pillow the day of her second summer at camp. It does have a magical ability. It can fill with water from Hebe’s fountain of youth on command and when it is splashed on a person or monster, it causes them to decrease age slowly (usually taking 5-10 minutes, depending on their age. Sometimes longer) until they reach half their age. This causes them to weaken physically (as the body frame is smaller and weaker), however they remain the same mindset unless Sunny also uses her powers on them (which is usually what she does in a fight). The effect is very temporary, only lasting 5-6 minutes (with them growing in age in those minutes) depending on how much was on them. She can’t use it often, taking hours at a time (sometimes longer than that) to regenerate the power (which she can tell by the cup turning into a brighter silver than when it needs “recharging”). It also takes around a minute for it to fill to the brim. Other than that, Sunny will use it as a regular cup when it needs to recharge.
Abilities:
Hebe
-Constant youthful appearance. This is a natural power of hers, so no energy is used.
-Can cause others to take the mindset of a child for a limited amount of time. This power can last as long as she wishes it to, but with each 25 minutes of use, it causes a severe drain on her energy. She usually only holds the power on the person/creature for 5-10 minutes, max being 20. Even the short bursts cause a drain on her energy.
-Can cause older people to look slightly younger than they are. This takes a major toll on her energy, but the effects are permanent.
Artemis
- Naturally silver coloured aura
- Naturally stronger and faster than regular mortals and demigods.
- Immortal unless they fall in love or fall in battle
- Usually have the upper hand in battle because of their fighting abilities.
- Able to summon their bow and arrows whenever they need.
- Excellent aim with their bows and arrows.
- They can talk to wild animals
Years at camp: Sunny stayed at camp for 3 years as a summer only, before deciding to go into the hunters. Has been a hunter for around a month. She joined right after she graduated high school.
She made her decision the previous summer when a few of the hunters explained what they did and how it worked. After discussing it with her parents, she awaited the end of her senior year, as she really wanted to graduate.
( ah i meant to post something about my 2 years on the site, but never got around to it. It really has impacted me so much, and the friends I have made here are simply amazing. Thank you to everyone who has helped me grow over these years and to all those who put up with me for the years as well. I cannot wait until my 3 year mark )
