That being said, he doesn't hate jokers, he just has a unique sense of humor. He always enjoyed things that gave him knowledge, particularly regarding magic history, like documentaries or books. He's always had a strong, unexplained, distaste of cats, and felines in general, as well as an affinity for dogs and canines in general.
Since he recently learned of his unique heritage, Azima now has a strong desire to learn what his capabilities are regarding magic, thinking perhaps he might become some kind of master spell caster. Azima considers himself intelligent, almost to the point of arrogance, assuming that he'll be smarter than most people he encounters.
History: Azima grew u being raised by his father, Oswald Chahine, who was a historian. Oswald primarily studied magic throughout history, things like rituals, cults and the like. This attracted the attention of Hecate, the goddess of magic. They met while Oswald was studying voodoo in Africa, Oswald would neglect to share too many details with Azima, except that after a few dates, a night of passion lead to Azima's birth.
For the first ten years of his life, Azima grew up in Africa before moving to America, leaving him with a strong African accent he still carries at camp. Azima's father was a busy man, often moving around as his studies kept him busy. So, rather them leave him home, Oswald would often drag Azima around, having him home schooled by hired teachers, or doing it himself. To avoid complications, Oswald brought up Azima a bit harshly, teaching that harsh punishments came with careless actions. This style of upbringing was only necessary for a few years, before Azima became more well behaved then most children his own age.
Azima always showed an interest in his father's studies, often reading his notes and joining him in field studies. His father never minded this, as Azima was never disruptive, and would often show intuition superior to Oswald's when it came to any kind of magic. As Azima grew into his teens, he began to notice his life was progressively becoming stranger. His father would move from place to place more often and frantically and odd individuals with off putting features were becoming an all too common sight in public.
When he was 17, he experienced his strangest encounter yet. Three large men with trench coats and concealing hats had corned Azima and his father, demanding that Azima be handed over. When asked why, they removed their hats to reveal they each had one large eye on their foreheads, showing their monstrous nature. Oswald refused, but when he tried to defend Azima, he was swatted aside by one of them. At that point, Azima could only recall having a strong urge to protect his father before blacking out. When he came to, he was surrounded metallic dust and empty trench coats.
The next day, Oswald confessed to Azima his true nature, that he was a demigod and that Hecate, the goddess of magic was his mother. Oswald told Azima that it was too dangerous for him to continue their lifestyle, and told Azima about Camp Half-blood, that it's the only place where he'd be safe, and that he had to make his way their immediately. Now separated from his father, Azima had to make it to camp before another incident occurred.
